7-8 years ago, back to my mother church, we kept singing this song. I could say that this is the most popular song during that time. Indeed, if we try to read it literally, this song speak the heart of many worshipers. Our struggles and challenges, God knows everything. Since the song speaks the heart of many people, I saw many tears that flowed down their cheek. Indeed as a Christian, we live in a world of trials and temptations. I need to admit that I was one of the regular worship leaders who kept leading this song during singspiration.

However, as I look and read carefully of this lyric. I stopped for a while and reflect. I could not connect the relationship between Father and Son. In the verse, it reads that we love our Lord Jesus wholeheartedly. Why? Jesus came as man to suffer and died, thus He knew struggles and spiritual turmoil that men undergoing in this world. That’s why the struggles that we are going through now, we shall placed before the Lord because the Son, Jesus Christ is interceding for us. As long as we love Jesus forever. But bear in mind, Jesus taught us to love God with all our heart, mind and soul. Not Him. Although we accept the theology of Trinity, whereby Father, Son and the Holy Spirit are in the same level, but the attributes of our Father God should not be mistakenly understood. Jesus is able to love us because His Father love Him first. This is first theological argument.

Second, while in the verse the songwriter mentioned how he loved Jesus forever, out of sudden the songwriter change his focus to the “father”. Who is the this father? As the lyric mentioned about Jesus, is it still referring to Jesus or the Father God? If it is Jesus, this is totally unacceptable because Jesus is NOT the Father. If the songwriter is referring to Father God, but why songwriter contradict with himself by mentioning Jesus at the first place. This is second theological argument.

I’m not here to condemn the songwriter for writing this “un-sound” song. But we need to bear in mind that, singing song is one of the many channel that show our attitude of worship.
